Orthopedic Cupping

An ancient Chinese method aids modern muscle tension and pain using a vacuum applied directly to the affected area.  It relieves stagnation and is used for releasing toxins, edema/swelling,  pain, tension and stress from the body.

Contracted muscles will relax releasing trapped toxins that cause pain and stiffness while re-establishing circulation and bringing in fresh nutrients. It is a very relaxing technique that enhances lymphatic drainage while reducing inflammation and swelling.  Works wonders following surgery to reduce swelling,  increase healing.

Often, areas of tension or injury are too tense or tender to treat with  neuromuscular/deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy or cross-fiber friction. Orthopedic cupping is a gentle, non-invasive way to release fascial holding patterns, loosen scar tissue, and soften tissue  so that  specific massage techniques can be comfortably applied. Orthopedic cupping is  effective for chronic pain, tightness, and spasms that are resistant to traditional therapies as well as post surgical procedures.

After dropping 40 pounds, Donna had loose skin.  She decided to  have the excess skin from her legs removed.  They got swollen and infection set in resulting in a lot of pain and scarring.  She had the excess skin from her arms removed next which went much better as she included Orthopedic cupping as soon as the incisions healed.  She experienced less pain, swelling, scarring and quicker healing time.   She commented that she wished she had done this with her legs too.

Thermography for Detection & Prevention

Breast cancer is the leading cause of death among American women between the ages of 44 and 55.   Mammography is not as effective and safe as widely thought. About 70 percent of all positive mammograms do not, upon biopsy, show any presence of cancer.   At the same time, mammograms also have a high rate of missed tumors, or “false negatives.”   Dr. Samuel S. Epstein, in his book, The Politics of Cancer, claims that in women ages 40 to 49, one in four instances of cancer is missed at each mammography. Mammography also carries radiation risks. According to Russell L. Blaylock, MD, one estimate is that annual radiological breast exams increase the risk of breast cancer by two percent a year. So over 10 years the risk will have increased 20 percent.

Breast thermography is radiation free, non-invasive, FDA approved, relatively inexpensive, and detects early, potentially reversible physiologic changes associated with later development of breast cancer. “The potential to detect pre-cancerous changes is the real value of thermography” says Dr. Monica Gavin. “Early detection of tumors is not really prevention. True prevention is about identifying women, or more specifically breasts, that are at risk for developing tumors, and thermography does just that.”

The abnormalities thermography detects (like hyperthermia suggestive of inflammation and angiogenesis; metabolic changes suggestive of hormone imbalances) are correctable through nutritional and lifestyle interventions.

Thermography is also used to detect early signs of cardiovascular, diabetic and inflammatory diseases.  As a detection/prevention tool, thermography is used to assist your healthcare provider in locating areas of concern for further evaluation and treatment. Early detection means you have more time to make lifestyle  adjustments that can CHANGE YOUR OUTCOME!

MLD can reduce Lipodema

Primary Lymphodema

Manual Lymph  Drainage (MLD) is a gentle technique.    This delicate technique eliminates waste, toxins, excess fluid and bacteria from the body via the lymphatic system.  The effects are numerous and include general benefits to the nervous and muscular systems.  MLD is a great addition to other detoxification programs, as it encourages lymphatic fluid flow in the connective tissues.  It also promotes , facilitates healing and supports the immune system.              A MUST for pre and post surgery! It  reduces scarring, swelling, enhances the healing process, while reducing adhesions.

Most insurance companies cover  MLD with a physicians prescription.  RUCOVERED?

I had MLD following my skin reduction surgery and boy what a difference it made in my ability to heal quickly!  I would recommend that anyone having plastic or reconstructive surgery to make MLD a part of their healing program.
